In the next Men’s Journal magazine, the brawny Bostonian remarks:

“If I was on that plane with my kids, it wouldn’t have went down like it did. There would have been a lot of blood in that first-class cabin and then me saying, ‘OK, we’re going to land somewhere safely, don’t worry.”

I’m giving him the benefit of the doubt and chalk it up to being a poor attempt at humor. He is usually pretty cool about jokes at his expense, so seeing his quotes out of context and in text may make it seem much more egomaniacal than intended. After all we give comedians plenty of leeway when it comes to jokes about 9/11 so let’s not crucify him (no pun intended-I am not comparing Mark Wahlberg to a 9/11 preventing Jesus) just yet.
